I was just browsing around dA and came across this.

It's sort of what I do, but I haven't been using so many layers, just one for the original and one for the linework which I then colour in and sometimes delete the outlines.

What's the advantage of using different layers for each colour?

theres a layer settings option that allows you to change your chosen color. take for instance if my character's hair is red, let's say I want to change it to blue after i've colored it in... just go under color overlay in the layer options and boom... choose the new color :D

:w00t: I finally figured out how you color your stuff. :) I see you do outline it in black, but then change the colors of the lines. Man, I could never do that in PSP7. .. maybe I can, but I don't know how. XD Anyway, this is a brilliant tut. Well put together, easy to read, and perfect for those who use Photoshop. Excellent work!

True. I was trying to do some drawing last night, and the pity of it is, I've got more ideas than the ability to work them. Dang, why didn't I go to art college? :P

this is only a suggestion but the book that really helped me out was
"Animation the looney tunes way" I know it's based around the LT characters but it still shows the basics to creating fluent and animatable characters.... it usually retails about 15.00..... you might be able to find it at a craft store (if you all have a Michaels, that's where I got mine)

Trust me, I didn't have it when I started on Dev ART

Look at how much I improoved from it :D

Photoshop is a yacht runs something like $600-700 new. Elements is the stripped down $100 sailboat version for creating your own web grapics and stuff like that.

well, sorry to brag, but I got mine for free.
I was working on my Admeral Thrawn colored picture on campus one after noon and this guy aproached me asking if I would like a copy of PS 7.0........ met him on Monday of the following week, went home the next weekend........... and the rest is artistic history...

and I freaked out when I found out that Image Ready was with it :excited:

600??? whoa, the last time I looked at it, it was close to 150.

I know theres some slight anxiety! it's almost like looking at a rollercoaster you think

"wow, so many hills and loopty loops"

but after you get into it you realize it's fun, and easy to get through.

I tried to be as orgainized as I could w/ this one :D
